NYC Photog, Ryan Colford Share His Snaps

Being a sort-of dominant gay blog is freaking awesome because 1) we get tons of lovely readers, 2) we find out breaking stories, and 3) all these amazing photographers ‘knows our readers’ and submit some amazing work ;) Check out some photos by Ryan Colford of New York City after the jump.

“I started photography with an old Canon AE-1 35mm camera given to me by a friend. I stayed in the realm of film for a number of years and worked on honing my technique. Over time my passion for this artform naturally progressed into the digital realm. The breadth of control, quality and possibilities was staggering and I was hooked forever. Digital allowed me to create some of the most astounding collections of beauty.

I’ve been asked – “But WHY do you do it”? This is really a great question to articulate.

I do it because I can’t imagine not doing it! Every day I wake up and my focus is riveted to this medium. I honestly feel compelled to create these images. Of course, the ultimate reason is for the aesthetic beauty. This should not be confused with the typical beauty that everyone generally accepts. I see and conceptualize my work based on an inherent beauty that I find in a person, scene or object. Essentially, the images that I create speak to my soul. Sometimes in a soft whisper and sometimes with a loud yell. Still, each one resonates in me and I am urged to share them with everyone.

I live and breathe these images in my mind’s eye. My biggest fear is that there won’t be enough time for me to produce all the striking ideas that constantly whirl around in my head. The fact remains that as an artist I must always try to live up to my potential and hope to enrich or enlighten the world.
