Dallas participates in nationwide Prop 8 protest
by Trey C. on November 15, 2008
As we reported Friday, the LGBT community united together Saturday morning at the city’s capitol — including the great city of Dallas — to protest against the passage of California’s Proposition 8. We really expected a larger turn-out considering the masses of people that attends the Pride Parade and the Halloween Block Party, but the number of protesters were around a mere 1,000.
Check after the jump to view our photo gallery and the video of the protest. We certainly hope that you had enough pride to fight for your civil rights and equality for all people.

Wow. I’m surprised Dallas had such a small turnout compared to Austin. Very disproportionate to our population sizes. That’s disappointing. The gay community is going to have to get up off of our asses and be much less apathetic if we expect anything to be done in regards to wining and maintaining civil rights.

@Warren: We had about 1000 here in Houston. I think that the difference in Gay Pride numbers and the rally numbers is that there was so much less time to get the word out.

@Jackson: I’ll have to disagree with you there. A lot of people don’t find out about pride parades, especially in Dallas because it’s during a weird time of the year.
The nationwide rally received way much media attention not to know about it… Like I could be asleep in my deathbed and the media will fuck it up my ass.

We are based in Dallas, I grew up here and Dallas has always been fickle about their support of national issues. Dont get me wrong, we are going to rock this in every way we can think of. I am personally urging everyone to find out how every person in their life falls on Gay rights, if they cannot support them then cut them loose and let them go their own way. It is now time for everyone to fall in line and for just a little bit set aside out inner bickering and get this job done. To use the old line, if you are not with us, you ARE against us.. period
