Simon Dexter: When gay porn stars cry

In today’s wonderful series of WTF, porn star Simon Dexter butt heads (hehe) with London-based photographer Dylan Rosser over some racy images — and evidently some misunderstanding of contract law.

So, what’s the deal?

If only porn stars’ reading skills were as good as their performances, this world would be a better place.

Dexter (pictured right) is angry that he was only paid $350 posing for what he thought was a coffee table book campaign. He state that if he knew it was for a “porn website” he would have charged $5000 because, you know, it’s so rare to find a gay person who want to strip naked.

Hell Rosser, I’ll do it for a $5 Starbucks gift card!

Dexter made a public outcry on his blog alleging Rosser (pictured left) of fraudulently posting images that the photographer himself took, on the portfolio website TheMaleForm.

“So last summer he contacted me again about shooting a coffee table book. I agreed and we shot for a very low rate because I wanted to be part of an artistic book,” Dexter stated.

“In the last few days, I have come to find out that these images have been published by Dylan on his membership subscription porn website. This is a clear violation of our agreement and my trust and is HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL” and asked his fans for a call-to-action.

This is going to be bigger than the Egypt revolution!

Popwired requested a copy of the contract from Rosser in which he quickly complied. The contract show that Dexter signed on June 10, 2010 and after careful review — and naps in between — ¬†we determined that Dylan Rosser had the legal rights to do what he wanted with the images — including posting them on this “porn website.”

The major failing component of the contract is that it never states the particular job the photos were being used for. It gave the photographer full rights to publish the images for whatever reason which is a general practice these days.

Now what?

I know we’re gay and we like to use our mouth for almost everything, but because a written contract does exist and take precedence above everything, Simon Dexter has two options:

  1. Be a big man and just let it be… plenty of his nude photos are out there anyways. Take one for your fans!
  2. Continue what he’s doing and be liable for a slander lawsuit.

Rosser told Popwired that the images of Simon Dexter will be removed soon from his website.

For anyone who follow Dylan Rosser’s work, you all know that the photos that are used on TheMaleForm are the same photos that he incorporates into his coffee table book.

It should be interesting to see how this all plays out.

And one more thing, can someone please explain in the comment section the difference between artistic nudes and porn? I don’t think Simon Dexter is defining it correctly.

[UPDATE Feb 22 @ 9:30am CST] “The Issue with Dylan Rosser has been resolved…we have come to an agreement that h(sic) would remove my photos due to the misunderstanding we had. I will remove the comments I posted on him because I respect that he decided to remove my photos as I have asked,” Dexter stated on his facebook page.

  • Simon Dexter is a washed-up G4P pornstar who is trying to remain relevant, and he's targeting Dylan in order to increase traffic to his blog. Not only does he need to learn how to read, he also needs classes in basic spelling and grammar.

He's taken dicks in his ass for a handful of hardcore gay videos and he now flies off the handle after a tasteful nude shoot? For the record, Dylan doesn't run a "porn" site, but a site devoted to the "male form."

While I have yet to hear one positive comment from anyone in the industry who has worked with Simon, I've heard nothing but praise and support for Dylan for being the bigger man and refusing to be dragged through the mud with this guy. Karma is a bitch and Simon's treading dangerous waters.

  • Mister Big

@JJ: I can't agree more! Seriously, you're going have a cock up your ass, and still find a way to complain about a still artistic photo? This is the reason why I hate some gay men.

  • Michael J.

    HAHA! LOVE THIS!

  • I mean if it were like the case with kim kardasian where she was told that her recent photos were going to be artistic and tasteful but end up showing more then she bargained for then we have a case. Is there a cum shot in the photoshoot? I think not mr. dexter. Just leave it be.

  • Every model and photographer in the world are familiar with Dylan's work and knows Dylan's high level of integrity, standards and quality on his work. He's a very honest man, great guy, very amazing person, and for models, if you have a Dylan Rosser shot on your portfolio, that means, you are a top model because his work represents the best in this industry, and his site, The Male Form is the best place to find the hottest models in the world, models who will be the next face of major brand campaign. Now, that's the Dylan Rosser standard!

  • Looks like Simon deleted his blog post.

  • Simon finally had to eat crow; he was universally vilified and received no public support from fellow models, photographers, or his girlfriend (who is a photographer herself).

The only ones who supported Simon were the fans who were in love with his past, the same past that he's now trying to distance himself from that hasn't done him any favors nor won him any support in the mainstream modeling industry. It's a shame he used Dylan Rosser as a pawn in his scheme to increase his notoriety.

  • Dylan Rosser

Hopefully as a final statement here I just want to say that I do appreciate all the support I have received over this. It was wrong the way Simon handled it but maybe he did it in anger and without thinking. Sometime people just don't work well together and maybe this is the case here. He is a good looking guy and the reason I shot him was because a couple of other photographers had praised him. So all I am saying is he's not all bad and I wish him the best with all his future projects.

  • Thanks for keeping us updated, Dylan.

  • I am sorry but I find most of the above comments to be extremely ignorant, insulting, homophobic and just plain stupid. The only thing Simon Dexter is guilty of is being extremely naïve in believing that Dylan Rosser would be a man of his word, regardless of what the contract says or does not say. The only decent thing to come out of this whole sleazy affair is that Dylan Rosser has at least agreed to remove images off his site.
