Matthew Mitcham finally scores a sponsor

Olympian stud Matthew Mitcham, 21, finally landed a sponsorship, according to his appearance last Monday on Sydney’s ‘The Morning Show.’ Mitcham, an openly gay athlete, discussed his success in Beijing, his future plans and his experiences as a gay sports person including being part of the 2009 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Did you know that Mitcham almost considered not going to China for the Olympics due to fear of his safety? His legal advisor, however, advised him that as long as he’s not waving the rainbow flag around, he should be fine.

Spanish soccer players from el GalÃ¡ctico Pegaso found a more creative way to display their angst over not being paid — something that appears in my dream many of times. Instead of griping and refusing to perform on the field the men instead lined up during the game and drop their shorts, most of them to their ankles, in protest.

According to Ohlala, their action was called “con el culo al aire.” I’m not quite sure what statement it made asides from giving me a new fantasy with guy number 5, 6, and 7 plus the dude at the far right.

UK footballers to speak out against homophobia

“A video showing football stars speaking out against homophobia will be released next year as part of an unprecedented drive by the sport’s governing bodies to tackle a sharp rise in abuse and discrimination,” The Guardian reports.

The UK Football Association has set aside a budget of $20,000 euros, which is $28,226.31 USD, and hopes that an advertising firm will help pick up the cause at a minimal rate.

“We’re delighted that the FA has decided to produce and fund the video, it will have a hugely positive impact on young people and help to challenge bigoted attitudes among fans,” Tatchell said.

The FA hopes that up to a dozen players including David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand, Sol Campbell, David James, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole and Cristiano Ronaldo, will be “persuaded” to take part.

Justin Fashanu was the first openly gay professional player who came out in 1990. Eight years later he he committed suicide and a coroner said prejudices, and the sexual assault charge he was facing, probably overwhelmed him.

The calendar is again shot by photographer Pedro Virgil against the backdrop of some breathtaking Australian settings… the calendar is easily one of Virgil’s most provocative calendar yet. The apparent star of the calendar is Nick Youngquest who has been picking up some heat as the cover boy of this years calendar, who also appeared recently on the cover of DNA magazine.

In the world of shameless celebrities who can only talk about themselves and create stupid shows like “50 Cent: The Money and the Power” and Paris Hilton’s “My New BFF”, in come Cowboys’ Tony Romo who is creating a rather nice reputation for himself. His first good samaritan act was when he changed a couple’s tires the night of the Cowboys’ season opener. Today, Romo treated a homeless man to the movies.

I just received a tip on my cell phone from Brian Tran. It’s rumored that singer Faith Hill will open the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving show with the National Anthem. It is also confirmed that the Jonas Brother will perform the halftime show.

This tip comes after a women was bragging to someone in a doctor’s office about her cheerleading daughter performing alongside the Jonas Brothers.

The blogosphere heated up in the gay domain Monday as different websites were posting the nude photos of apparent French swimmer, Frederick Bousquet.

The photos first appeared on the UK’s FM Forum with the first explicit image being posted on August 30, 2008 by a user under the alias ‘lenad441′. Readers of the thread commented wanting to see the “whole package”.

“If the response gets better for this thread, i.e. more posts expressing interest, i will post even more pics…showing even more,” the poster said.

Cristiano got a bit snappy with the photographers and shouted for them to stop taking photographs, but when they ignored him he ‘bent down’ to pick up rocks to throw at them — which he completely missed, hence why he plays soccer.

Cristiano joked that he didn’t like having his photo taken all day, every day, but was told it is part of being a sporting superstar and that if he didn’t like it he should move elsewhere to somewhere like Spain, he grinned at this comment and shrugged his shoulders saying “Who knows!”

Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps visits McBurney YMCA

Here goes another post about Michael Phelps. As part of his post-Olympic nation wide tour, the Gold medalist stopped to do some good deed by spending some quality time swimming with kids Thursday evening at the McBurney YMCA center in New York City. Phelps is also set to host the season opener of Saturday Night Live, present an award at the MTV’s Music Video Award, and today Phelps was in New York City filming a cameo for the HBO series “Entourage.”

A whole new load of crap to add to his impressive resume :)

Golden boy Phelps took to the stage Thursday morning in an interview with the CBS Early Show. Looks like it may have been a little too early for the pretty boy as he yawns and then smiles — and then yawns again throughout the interview.

After the interview Phelps went outside to sign autographs for fans who patiently awaited holding the famous pic of him on the Sports Illustrated cover. At first glance, did anybody else think Michael Phelps was wearing a belly shirt?

It seems that the Olympian has fallen for none other than Stephanie Rice, another medal grabbing hog. The duo have stumbled upon another shared interest – each other, reports The Sun. The pair together both boast 11gold medals… “and the eligibility to swim faster than anyone in the world”.

We’re also getting word that Phelps will be writing a book! WTF? Now he’s an author too? The book will tell the story behind his historic eight gold medal swims just in time for the holiday season, Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, announced Friday.

Oh my, sounds like an interesting book. Hope he writes about what he does at the bathrooms in the hotel room too.

Michael Phelps is Living the High Life

Here is a sneak peek into the new waterfront townhouse of Michael Phelps. The house cost $1.7 million and resides in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. Phelps says he plans on moving back to his home city when he gets back to the US after his eight gold medal success in Beijing.

The bachelor pad is only 4,080 sq ft, but the complex has a rooftop terrace, private screening room, a state of the art gym, and clubhouse with pool tables. Check out his house.

Michael Phelps Baby Pictures!

A long-long time ago, before he became the super hunky Olympian he is today, Swimmer Michael Phelps was too a cheeky face kid. He went from cute toddler, to Frankenstein in middle school, to a super hot do-me-now superstar!

Phelps shows off the beaming smile that has become familiar on Olympic swimming rostrums in a string of adorable family pictures. He can even be seen as a newborn baby lying in his crib after he was born in June 1980 1985 in Baltimore, Maryland. The family shots were put together by his mum Debbie as part of the swimmer’s own page in the 2003 yearbook of Towson High School, Maryland, where he graduated.

Upset in Beijing!

Beijing – Nerves were higher than usual as the smell of gold hovered above the pool as Michael Phelps gets ready for the final 4×100m relay. He looks over to his nervous teammates knowing that Team USA is considered to be the underdog to France and Australia. History, it seems, is not in Team USA’s favor. In 2000, the Aussies won the gold while USA took silver. South Africa took the gold during the Athens games in 2004 leaving the Americans with the bronze. Michael Phelps’ dream of winning 8 gold medals in Beijing is on the line as he takes his place on the edge of the pool waiting to dive in.

As soon as the signal blares, Phelps dives into the pool with the other 7 athletes who are also trying to take home the gold. After 300m France took a solid lead leaving Team USA fighting for the silver medal against Australia. USA’s last swimmer, team captain Jason Lezak, knows that he needs to swim with all his might to secure his teams spot on the podium. Going into the last 100m stretch, Lezak starts to gain speed on the French swimmer, Bernard, who just doesn’t seem to have it in him anymore. The crowd goes wild as Lezak and Bernard race neck-in-neck to the finish where Lezak and Team USA upset the French by just .08 seconds. Those .08 seconds, however, would be just enough to put Team USA on top of the podium to receive their first gold medal in this event since 1996.

Phelps, and teammates Jones and Weber-Gale, were going crazy on the sidelines while the French just sat there in complete shock. That will teach them not to trash-talk the Americans ever again ;-). This event gave Phelps his second gold medal out of these games leaving him 6 more to swim for.
