On Sunday my friends and I decided to have a little — do something else but drink day —  group trip to Six Flags Over Texas. Little did we know, it was World Youth Day! We stuck out like nine circus performers in a Las Vegas drag show.

The first ride we went in line for was probably the most evident that the people were extremely wary of us, gays.

Literally, every Christian head turned around and stared at us for a good three minutes. What did we do about it? We FLAMED! Check out the photo slideshow after the jump.

World Youth Day is a youth-oriented Roman Catholic Church event. While the event itself celebrates the Catholic faith, invitation to attend is non-denominational.

World Youth Day was initiated by Pope John Paul II in 1986. It is celebrated on a diocesan level annually, and at a week-long international level every two to three years at different locations. The international level events attract hundreds of thousands of youth from almost every country on the planet. It is a major part of the upsurge in Catholic Youth Work in some countries over recent years.

It’s been a long time coming! TREYCRUZ.COM is now PopWired.com.

I had a great two years under the TREY CRUZ name and have built this baby from the ground up, something of which I am most proud of. However, the times are changing and the competition is getting rough and I am left to either drop from the gay blogging competition, or rediscover my roots and push this blog further beyond my imagination.

Obviously, I chose to push this blog beyond its limit and go head-to-head with some of the most awesome bloggers out there. I won’t go into details on why I changed the name — you can read about that in the paper, but I really hope you guys like the new design and hopefully the new name is also kind of catchy, or at least easy to remember.

Our content will obviously still be gay-focused, but we are slowly bringing in the female content for the very few chicks and lesbians that reads our site. We also have one new writer, Miguel G., who have already contributed a tremendous amount of time to the content of this blog. Then we have our returning contributor, Sean K., who will be heading up our POPTRENDS section which will hopefully go live in a few weeks.

Please take a look around the blog, and if you find any weirdness leave a comment, and we’ll try to address the problem as soon as possible. Certain sections of the site and some links may still be dead. We are quickly trying to resolve that situation within’ the next few days.

I seriously hope you love the new look, the new name, and the contents we will be delivering on a daily basis.

Happy Friday! I just wanted to let everyone know that I am having some minor issues with the server and will be doing a clean reinstall of the entire OS tonight to see if that will rid it of any problems. TREYCRUZ.COM will be offline Saturday, February 7 from 2 a.m.  – 6 a.m. CST.

I really hate to take it offline, but this is of the utmost importance and needs to be addressed immediately.

Anyway, I’ve received numerous emails from readers asking/suggesting for a better way to view the gallery because it was basically a pain in the ass to have to scroll down through 53 images just to have the page reload to the top and then having to scroll back down again to find the next image.

Well, alas I listened and finally just updated the gallery with the “next image, previous image” links. So I hope you enjoy the ease of use and click away!

I’m back! First and foremost I would like to apologize to everyone for not having updates last Thursday and Friday. My laptop finally hit its period and decided to be a little bitch and stopped working. On Friday I bought a new laptop, but spent most of the time transferring photos and what not over to the new comp. I’m almost completely done.

To make-up for the two day delay, here are some OLD photos of the sexy Robert Buckley dated June 27th taken while they were in New York City filming a segment for ‘Lipstick Jungle’. Enjoy! More pics after the jump.

As you may already know we got a face lift! I created the new design to make everything super user-friendly, and more importantly, to make it easier for you to find the shirtless pics of Efron :) . Hopefully the new design will make it a little more work-friendly, but with pecs floating around everywhere it’s still a little wary for the cubicle ;-). Some of the new features include a bad ass search bar (as pictured), a cleaner commenting section,  easier to find RSS or email subscription, better looking font for us blind people, and a brand new photo gallery!

We here at ‘Trey Cruz’ are excited about the new design and would appreciate any feedback, mainly the positive ones. There may be a few minor errors, however, they will be fixed within the next few days.

Okay so both you and I know that something weird has been going on with this blog, well, weird isn’t really the correct word to use. We’re trying to find our niche yet again and though we have a pretty firm reputation here in the blogosphere we are trying to push a little further in terms of readership and content, but I really don’t know what the hell to do :) So if you guys can answer a few questions it would greatly help (or if you rather see the larger version image of Terron Wood scroll down).

Last week was just filled with drama and crap that would make God herself girl. Waking up each day was like feeling sweet mama Jesus slapping me on my rear end. I’m doing a little better now mentally, still physically tired, and will start bringing you guys some more stuff to read about. LOVES YA!

As with everything else in my life I’m always late… but thank goodness! I got to personally witness one of those phenomenons you only see on TV. I witnessed a geek hit on a pretty hot lady who worked at the coffee shop by talking about wi-fi and it’s spectrum! Yup.

This was one of my first geek convention and it was totally cool. I understood nerd language! I met several great people such as Lorelle (mother WordPress), Liz (Successful Blog) and many other inspirational people whom have transformed the social blogging world.

I learned a lot of materials from ways to acquire content to creating the site’s focus to SEO optimization. Liz and Lorelle was one of the greatest mentors that I ever spent 10 minutes or so talking to. :) I’ve always had a plan to take this blog further and push it beyond it’s potential, but I was always terrified that I might be walking into a deep trench. A blog is all about its voice and that is pretty much established here, but the one main thing that I was forgetting about was the wonderful people who comes to visit this blog. It lacked interaction by means of commenting. As for site focus, blogging about fashion and photography is great, but there’s a bigger world out there and I want with all my heart to be able to deliver those kind of contents to you guys at a timely manner. Plus there are way too many blogs out there that already does that.

With the confidence I ensued over the weekend I’m going to slowly try and make that come true so watch out for more diverse content coming soon onto this blog! We may even be acquiring a new domain name and transferring everything over (not sure yet) there, but don’t worry, I promise to still deliver the hottest and latest guys to you! There will also be two new authors: Adrian Contreras and Sean Kushaney. These two are the most wonderful and sweetest people in the world, but they also have that charisma + sarcasm and personality that can drive this blog to its success with their unique voice.

So what’s this about a new focus? Okay, maybe saying “new focus” might be pushing it a little too far into the booty. We’re still going to bring you the same great photography you see in ad campaigns by renowned photographers all over the world, but we’re also going to be adding more content in the areas of entertainment, and public news issue on the site. If you have any tips or suggestions, please shoot them our way here. Thank you guys and gals for all your support and we look forward to delivering you the content that you want.

We have sucessfully transferred all of our data to our new hosting provider at Media Temple. Throughout the whole process I learned some valuable things about transferring a wordpress blog and how not to trust most hosting companies. The site had been hosted by my server at work until the beginning of September. The large volume of traffic to the site started to slow down the internal network quite a bit. It was time to move. So I signed up for 1and1 Hosting and was excited to get things up and going as quickly as possible. Damn was I wrong!

I HATE 1&1 
My domain name’s registrar is 1and1 and for some reason it took them 14 hours for it to “transfer” from my 1&1 Instant Domain package to my 1&1 Hosting Package! And to make things more painful, I wasn’t allowed to access the MySQL database from any external programs which left me with only one option… to use phpMyAdmin (or some crap like that). It was no biggie at first. I tried using the import feature, but that crap gave me error, after error, after error.

I decided to call customer support and the lady said yes I can access it externally and to just wait 24-48 hours for everything to resolve. She also told me that the reason I wasn’t able to import my sql file was because the account hasn’t completed setup. So I waited and waited and figured out later that she lied to me! In a desperate attempt to minimize downtime I loaded all my files to 1&1 and linked it back to my database at my old hosting. Of course this wouldn’t work for long.

After much thinking, I decided I want my money back! Here’s the main reason I left 1&1.com

1. Customer support was horrible. They are all liars!
2. I wasn’t allowed external access to MySQL. This is how I administer it.
3. Everything in the control panel took hours to update! Even my ftp password!
4. JUST PLAIN HORRIBLE.

I LOVE MEDIA TEMPLE… Finally at peace.
So after 4 days of researching around I found Media Temple… well “found” wouldn’t quite be the right term. I’ve seen their logo throughout many tech sites like TechCrunch so I decided to look it up. The price seemed fair, I heard nothing but great stuff about their customer support, and their user interface is really a plus… they also use what they call a “grid server” setup to ensure my site stays up.

So today I made the official move. I signed up and everything in my account was setup and ready to go in about 20 minutes! The only thing I had to do now is change my nameserver settings on 1&1 to point to my new host. Simple right? WRONG! Of course all 1&1’s fault. It took 7 hours to transfer my domain name from my Hosting Package back to my Instant Domain Package, or at leaset get it processed… and then from there I had to wait 4 more hours for the dns edits to take effect.

 

But the move was worth the wait. Although I admit I lost a great sum of revenue from the site being down for majority of the day, the reliability and support this new host offers can surely bring that cash back in no time. It’s only been a couple hours and this is what I love about Media Temple so far…

1. GREAT customer service
2. Everything was completed in a timely and efficient manner
3. They gave me coupons!
4. All my updates were instant (pw change, email accounts, etc…)
5. The speed of the site has increased significantly! (it takes like a second or less to load) 
6. I can actually access MySQL externally (though I had to input allowed ip list)
7. Instant access to DNS records… (I even have my own mail.treycruz.com :-)
8. Multiple admin levels.

Here is some tips for all you blogs and websites who are planning to move or acquire your first host.

1. Cheap hosting sounds great… but you get what you pay for. Crappy ass service and a bunch of lying tech support agents. I’m not saying all host are bad… but I’m pretty sure most of them are here to make a huge profit by stuffing your site with 8,000 others into a single server.
2. Always research your host before signing up with anyone! Make sure they have a money back policy. Ask a tech geek like me for advice… they are sure to tell you a lot of informative facts. If you’re using a web application make sure they can host it first.
3. Transfer your files when there is less traffic (like at 3am)! I lost a lot of money due to this mistake.
4. Media Temple is my preferred hosting provider. I hope to continue doing business with them in the many years to come and i’m pretty sure they can match your standards of a great webhost.

It’s 2:34pm and my sitemeter says my hits is currently at 240. Strange. That ususally doesn’t happen until 4pm. So i’m thinking someone either really likes my Spice Girls post or i’m being linked big time somewhere on the net.

I logged into google analytics and what do you know… I’m getting tons of hits from our friend and blog mate at “Boys I Like“. What’s even cooler is that he posted something about BJ and I! To the 143 viewers who has already subscribed, I apologize with the troubles you may have had of getting the full articles delivered.
